Here I explain, what the Vendor Diversification Options goal is and why it is so important in an service oriented architecture.
What is the Vendor Diversification Options goal?
Vendor diversification gives the option to change, rebuild or extend parts of an enterprise IT with other vendor technologies and products without disrupting the overall federated service architecture. This requires an implementation, which is neutral to vendor platforms, and services with standardized endpoints (contracts). Diversification is not mandatory but an option to do so if necessary (especially in the case, the vendor platform is not maintained anymore or the vendor increases the prices for licenses). This increases the lifespan and financial return (ROI) of automation solutions. Web services further decrease dependency on vendor platforms, because the don’t have a proprietary communication.
