Here I describe SOAP-based Web services and how they can be built.
Define SOAP-based Web services.
Web services are called SOAP-based Web services to differ them from other service types, which also use Web technology. Additionally service orientation has to be applied on them to design them as services.
A service with its core service logic need an additional contract (XSD, WSDL and WS-Policy) and a message processing logic to expose the operations (capabilities). The use of Web services in traditional distributed solutions doesn’t necessarily mean that these are service oriented. It is required that the Web service is shaped by the design principles and custom standards. Web services can be used for silo-based application or RPC infrastructure.
