Here I explain, what the Increased Organizational Agility goal is and why it is so important in an service oriented architecture.
What is the Increased Organizational Agility goal?
Agility means responsiveness: adapt changes more efficiently and effectively (resulted e.g. by business clients, merges of companies). Agnostic services are used as reusable IT assets, which could be composed repeatedly. So the time and the effort to fulfill new or changed requirements (higher responsiveness) is dramatically decreased. Existing code is reused and less custom development effort is needed. There are more up-front costs and effort than using traditional project delivery approaches. The more is reused the faster the solution architecture is built.
Important: Don’t mix this with agile development, which have a more tactical focus on rapid delivering solution logic.
